Well, the book and webcomic, will have to be put on hold temporarily. My brother and I, have decided to go into the T-shirt business together. With our blend of creativity, intelligence, and business acumen, I see only good things coming out of this partnership. Wish us luck!

Posing. Most of the stuff that I have posted, so far, is older stuff. This is due to the fact that I am really trying to experiment with different styles, in order to give the book a unique and bold look, therefore, I don't have much to show, as a lot of my recent drawings have ended up in the trash. What I do see in my older work, is that it is quite stiff, I definitely need a lot of improvement on my posing. I think that one of the problems, as a developing artist, is that you end up being too concerned with the final product, and wanting it to be too perfect, instead of just letting go, which creates much looser looking artwork. And as lame as it sounds, sometimes I just can't think of a cool pose, you wouldn't think it would be too hard, but part of that may be my lack of confidence as an artist. This is definitely something I plan to work on diligently, and fortunately, I have seen improvement. Let's hope that continues.
I don't really do much fan art, prefer to create my own characters, but these next few posts will contain the only fan art that I will, probably, ever have on this blog. First up, Poison Ivy (copyright DC Comics). 2H pencil.
Yet another scrapped comic book project, if I remember correctly, something to do with teens in an academy, to become space rangers. The guy with the scar, is their drill instructor. I can't believe that sounded interesting at one point. Lame. 2H pencil.
Style. It's definitely something all artists struggle with at some point in their development, trying to determine their identity as an artist. There is no question that I want to be a cartoonist, using a minimalist approach, with an economy of line. It's not as easy as I thought it would be. I am realizing that it takes a lot of skill to communicate an image properly, while also being visually striking, with the use of a few lines. That's the goal of this journey, to come up with a unique, distinctive style, that I can call my own. Wish me luck.
Who doesn't love Professor Pug? He will be in the book as well, but will also probably look a lot different, once it's all said and done. It's okay for an early draft, but needs to be more, uhh.... pug-y. 2H pencil.

These were designs for an animation pitch contest, that I did not qualify for, because I did not have a professional writing credit, still had fun with the process though, and decided to use them as ancillary characters in the book. Their design will definitely undergo some changes, as it is not in line, with how envision the final look of the characters in the book. 2H pencil.
A couple of random heads, from yet another scrapped project. These were done with a 2H pencil as well, my weapon of choice.
These were some concepts for a friend's project, aliens disguised as humans, which is why they are sans eyebrows. These were done with a 2H pencil, definitely don't draw in this style anymore, as I am far more cartoony now.
Welcome to my blog, my first official blog ever! This blog will contain mostly sketches, and character designs, for a picture book that I am working on, that will hopefully see publication one day. This blog will also chronicle my journey, and hopeful growth, as an artist. I grew up in an age where art was done traditionally, so everything you see here will be done the old-fashioned way, with pencil, markers, and colored pencils. I have nothing against digital artists, as I have great appreciation for all art, this is just a personal choice. I hope you enjoy what you see here, and all comments are welcome, and appreciated. Thank you for taking this journey with me.
